Hormiga Tangarana en el Perú: deriva de la relación simbiótica de un árbol y una especie de hormiga que habita en su interior, la hormiga toma el mismo nombre.
Esta especie es de un color amarillento, de talla pequeña y muy ágil; su picadura es muy dolorosa. Basta dar un pequeño golpe en el tronco del árbol para que salgan y traten de picar al que se acerca a su morada.
La creativida del hombre amazónico siempre consideró dentro de su repertorio musical a la flora y fauna de la cual vive rodeado. La Tangarana, es una de la hormigas por el que se tiene mucho respeto y su rapido caminar inspiró en un ritmo cadencioso que insita las veces que se escucha al baile.
